The Talk on Climate Crisis and Zero Waste Took Place
In collaboration with Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Green Transformation Coordination Office and Kepez Municipality, a public talk titled "Climate Crisis and Zero Waste" was organized as part of the June 5th Environment Day and June 8th Marmara Day events. Additionally, the “Recycling in Art Mobile Printing Workshop,” established in partnership between the Green Transformation Coordination Office and Kolin Hotel, was conducted under the leadership of Dr. Mert Yavaşça.
The event, which started with speeches by Kepez Mayor Birol Arslan, continued with a panel featuring Dr. Dilvin İpek, the Green Transformation Coordinator, and national athletes Derya Can and Devrim Cenk Ulusoy, both World and European champions. They discussed the climate crisis, actions individuals can take to mitigate it, and the importance of the Zero Waste project.
The “Recycling in Art Mobile Printing Workshop” was also presented to the public by Dr. Mert Yavaşça, Lecturer Ayşe Ekici, and Dr. Selin Perk from the Faculty of Fine Arts.
In addition to Mayor Birol Arslan, Deputy Mayor Mehmet Yavaş, department heads, Kolin Hotel General Manager Halil Ertan, and the hotel management participated in the event. Mayor Arslan emphasized the importance of collaboration between Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University and local governments, underlining the need for more public awareness activities. He expressed his gratitude to Rector Prof. Dr. R. Cüneyt Erenoğlu for his support, highlighting the value of university-local government partnerships.
